The design expands the existing kitchen to create an open-plan arrangement of kitchen, dining and living areas, enhancing views through the home and strengthening the relationship with the rear garden. The extension create subtle spatial separation while maintaining a continuous flow of natural light. Large doors and an enlarged rear window open the home to the garden, improving both visual connection and day-to-day use. Two rooflights draw additional daylight deep into the plan.

Externally, the extension is expressed through a contemporary palette of grey glazed brickwork, paired with dark grey metal-framed openings and concrete elements. These materials provide a refined contrast to the existing house while referencing the tones and craftsmanship of the recently built garden studio. The restrained material articulation and softened brickedges give the extension a quiet, minimal character. Carefully calibrated proportions and a modest overall height ensure the extension sits sensitively within its terrace, reducing visual impact and maintaining neighbourly amenity. Overall, the project modernises the home with clarity and precision, delivering a calm, functional and elegantly detailed addition that elevates everyday living.
