
This nursery fit-out in East London has been designed to create a calm, engaging and nurturing environment for early years learning. The spatial concept draws inspiration from nature, combining soft, organic forms with clearer geometric elements to intuitively define areas for play, rest and focused activities.
Developed in close collaboration with the nursery’s founder, the project translates the brand’s values and identity into a built environment for the first time. As the inaugural location in a planned series of new nurseries, the design establishes a clear spatial language that can be adapted and replicated across future sites, supporting the client’s long-term growth while maintaining a strong and consistent identity.

The nursery caters for three distinct age groups, with each room carefully tailored through scale, layout and a dedicated colour palette to respond to different stages of development. Spatial planning, visibility and safeguarding have been carefully considered in line with established early years guidance, supporting inclusive learning and the ambition to achieve an Ofsted Outstanding rating.


A strong relationship between inside and outside is central to the scheme. Large glazed openings connect internal playrooms to sheltered external play areas overlooking the River Thames, allowing children to move freely between environments throughout the day. These outdoor spaces extend learning beyond the classroom, supporting sensory play, wellbeing and engagement with the natural surroundings.
Throughout the project, material choices, lighting and detailing have been carefully considered to create a warm, robust and age-appropriate environment. At Beyond Design, we believe that the quality of early years spaces plays a fundamental role in shaping confidence, creativity and social development.
